At Season + Taste, we pledge £500 per employee per year to go towards external, transferrable training.

We are always open to suggestions about courses you would like to do.

Here are some options:


Food Safety Course

This course is aimed at anyone working in the food business, catering or hospitality. You will learn about everything there is to do with food safety and hygiene including:


Legislation
Food safety hazards
Temperature control
Refrigeration, chilling and cold handling
Cooking, reheating and hot holding
Food handling
Principles of food storage
Food premises and equipment

You will be assessed by a multiple choice question paper. After the completion of this course you will gain a Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering (Level 2) certificate.

HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point)



First Aid

This is usually a one day course that covers the basics of First Aid specifically for the workplace.

You will learn about the following:


Handling of First Aid situations
Resuscitation
Control of bleeding
Immediate basic treatment of various injuries
Immediate basic treatment of various illnesses
Identification and treatment of various injuries, including: fractures, electrical injuries, spinal injuries
First Aid box requirements
Requirements of a First Aider

You will be assessed via a test paper and practical assessment. Upon completion you will receive a Level 2 CIEH (Chartered Institute of Environmental Health) certificate.

Automated Extended Defibrillator (AED)


WSET - Wine and Spirit Education Trust

This qualification is popular with employees who work with wine and spirits and will give students excellent all-round product knowledge. With this course you will learn the key grape varieties and regions of the world, principal varieties of spirits, food and wine pairings, label terminology and much more.

You will be assessed by a multiple choice test and, if successful, you will receive a certificate and WSET Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits lapel pin.

Bertinet Bakery

At The Bertinet Kitchen Cookery School you will learn all the secrets to incredible cooking.

They offer a wide variety of classes: from cookery and bread-making to patisserie classes and sauces, as well as cake decorations, croissants and much more.

E5 Bakehouse

The E5 Bakehouse is an east London artisan bakery and coffee shop which offers fantastic bread-making and pastry classes, all run by their head chefs. They also do special classes during the week which can be tailored to your personal requirements.

Bread Making Class:

The class is led by one the seasoned bakers at E5 Bakehouse. After an introductory session, you will typically learn to bake four types of breads: a pain de campagne, ciabatta, 66% rye bread, and bagels.

All these breads use wild sourdough and the class covers how to sustain a sourdough mother, along with teaching the kneading and shaping styles used at E5 Bakehouse. The intention is to build confidence in all aspects of bread-making with an emphasis on sourdough.

Pastry Class:

This class is led by the pastry chef and one of their bakers. You will learn how to use some classic patisserie recipes to create a wide range of cakes with tips and tricks from the head chefs themselves.

There will also be demonstrations of how to make chocolate ganache, lemon curd and Italian meringue.

The Butchery Ltd

This class is a great opportunity to learn how to treat the very best meat. They will teach you about the various cuts, how to cook them and all the secrets of butchery.

The classes at The Butchery Ltd are very hands on. Classes are practical-based, with a small group of 6-8 students: they are not just demonstrations. All classes end with something yummy to eat. And, you can take home all the meat you have worked on or, have it stored and aged, depending on the animal being cut.
